A digital camera was used to collect the imagery information. The imagery's scale is 1:100feet and has 6" pixel resolution. The imagery was provided in both TIFF and MrSID formats. The following is a brief description of the seven processing steps that Horizons went through to create the imagery for Goodhue County. For more details on how the orthoimagery was created, please contact the Goodhue County GIS Specialist.: Step 1: Raw Image Download - This enables a quick look at image quality and coverage. Step 2: Differential GPS and IMU Processing - The GPS data is differentially processed against a base station. After the differential GPS solution has been checked and verified, a different program is used to compute an integrated GPS/IMU navigation solution at one-second intervals. Step 3: Georeference of Raw L0 Imagery: Using the GPS/IMU trajectory, software computes a full x,y,z omega, phi, kappa exterior orientation of each scan line. Step 4: Epipolar Resample and Creation of L1 Imagery - Using the orientation data file produced in Step 3, the L0 imagery is resampled. The resampling removes most of the aircraft motion and provides epipolar geometry for stereo viewing, automated aerotriangulation and automated DEM extraction. Step 5: Aerotriangulation - The Level 1 epipolar-resampled and georeferenced imagery usually will provide a pixel's true ground location to within a few pixels without any additional processing. Step 6: DEM - A digital elevation model (DEM) is required for orthophoto production. Step 7: Orthophoto Production - Ortho-rectification is performed in GPro software for an entire image strip at once, which is more efficient than managing many frame images. Images are then mosaicked together. Once all of the seam lines have been checked and corrected ortho tiles are then clipped from the image database and put through a thorough Q/C process.
