Scott Arneson was hired as Goodhue County Administrator in November, 2006. Scott was previously the County Administrator in Aitkin County located in central Minnesota. Prior to his Aitkin County appointment, Scott held administrative and managerial positions with the City of Faribault, Minnesota, Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota and various management positions in the private sector.
Scott has an extensive educational background. Scott is currently working on a Doctorate in Leadership at the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minnesota and is a Policy Fellow for the University of Minnesota. Scott received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota and a Master of Arts degree in Public Administration from Hamline University in St. Paul, Minnesota, and a Masters of Business Administration in Financial Services from the University of St. Thomas, St. Paul, Minnesota. Scott is also a graduate of the Advanced Government Finance Institute at the University of Wisconsin, Madison and has completed the certified mediator training with the Minnesota State Bar, is a certified Human Resource Manager from the University of Minnesota Carlson School of Management, is a Blandin Leadership and Blandin Community Economic Advantage Leadership Alum, and has completed a year of foreign studies in Finland.
In 2004, Scott was selected as the Minnesota County Administrator of the Year by the Minnesota Association of County Administrators. In 1995, Scott was selected as the Assistant of the Year by the Minnesota Association of Urban Management Assistants.
Scott is active in various professional organizations. Scott currently serves on the State Auditor’s Best Management Practices Board, the Electronic Counties Taskforce, the National Association of County Officials Taxation and Finance Steering Committee, and Minnesota Counties Representative for the National Association of County Administrators. He has previously served on the Executive Board of the Minnesota Association of County Administrator’s, the Association of Minnesota Counties Membership Services Steering Committee, and the Executive Board of the Minnesota Association of Urban Management Assistants. Scott is also an active volunteer in Rotary, Lions, as a hockey coach and works on various community projects.
