The Goodhue County Welfare Board is composed of five County Commissioners and two private citizens appointed by the Commissioner of Human Services and that at least one of the appointed citizens be a woman.

John Howe is Mayor of the City of Red Wing. He has a B.A. in Criminal Justice from Saint Cloud State University and is practicum to finish his M.S. in Criminal Justice from Saint Cloud University.  He is a Reverse Mortgage Consultant with Wells Fargo Bank. In the past, John has owned the local Sears store, was Chairman of the Sears Dealer Store Council in 2000 to 2005, was a Minnesota Department of Correction Caseworker in Red Wing and a Corrections Counselor in Saint Cloud and was a Sears District Loss Prevention Manager.

Mary Lindahl is a lay welfare board member from Cannon Falls where she resides at 32010 White Rock Trail. Mary Lindahl is a graduate of Cannon Falls High school and of Gustavus Adolphus College. Mary Lindahl has had a 30+ year career in public health/home health care nursing in the Goodhue County area.

The Welfare Board generally meets the third Tuesday of each month at 11 a.m. in the Goodhue County Boardroom.
