Construction of a crushed rock walking trail will continue through 2006. The trail is being constructed by Public Works employees. The trail is “sustainable” by design — following the terrain in a way as to prevent soil erosion. The trail’s path extends from the parking lot to the west along the lake front for approximately 900 feet. This is the first of several phases for creating a walking trail to the area known as the westerly 7.5 acre park site. With the construction of this portion of walking trail, Lake Byllesby Park will offer 8,000 feet of trails for recreational use, including 3500 feet of paved trails. Goodhue County asks that you remain on the trails when you are utilizing the trail system within the Park.
