UPDATE-Road Construction on County Road 1

Goodhue County’s CSAH 1 Reconditioning Project began September 27, 2017.

Goodhue County will be replacing centerline culverts and doing some vertical grade adjustments on  CSAH 1 from TH 60 to CSAH 9.

The prime contractor for this project is Mathiowetz Construction Inc. from Sleepy Eye, MN.

Work will commence with the following anticipated construction schedule:

Phase 1 - Perform reclamation of the existing surface at all pipe and grading locations for entire project.  COMPLETED

Phase 2 - Perform tree removal and chipping operation and install perimeter erosion control.  COMPLETED

Phase 3 - Complete work on culvert installs from CSAH 30 to CSAH 9 including grading sections.  COMPLETED

Phase 4 - Complete work on culvert installs from TH 60 to CSAH 30 including grading sections.

Beginning Thursday, October 12th, County Road 1, between County Rd 30 and Hwy 60, will be re-opened to traffic, and the Contractor will begin work on the northern phase of the project.  Small centerline pipe crossings in the County Road 30 to County Road 9 portion of the road will begin October 12th. This section of County 1 will be closed and will have a signed detour that should be followed by the traveling public.  No through traffic will be permitted due to excavation for the pipe replacement. County Road 30 will also be closed just east of County Road 1 while the Contractor replaces a box culvert.  Access to Aspelund Church will remain open via County Road 8 - no work will be performed at the intersection of Co 8 & Co 1 during this phase of the project.  Motorists are asked to allow extra time to reach their destinations safely during construction and to respect workers in and around construction zones.  Please follow the posted detour and be respectful of local residents on and neighboring the project.

The roadway will be open to traffic this winter with many sections of gravel for winter suspension so caution will be advised.  Reconditioning work on CSAH 1 is anticipated to be completed Spring 2018.

New pavement on CSAH 1 will be completed under a separate contract in 2018.
