Building Permit Applications
An applicant for a Residential Building Permit can be a Minnesota-licensed contractor or the property owner. Property owners should also submit the "Contractor Licensing Waiver" with their permit applications.

County Permit Application
For the Unincorporated Townships
County Building Permit Application - For the unincorporated townships. Submit applications to the county along with the Township Zoning Approval.

City Permit Applications

  • City of Bellechester - Submit applications to the city. The county reviews the plans and does the inspections.
  • City of Cannon Falls - Submit applications to the city. The county reviews the plans and does the inspections.
  • City of Dennison - Submit applications to the city. The county reviews the plans and does the inspections.
  • City of Goodhue - Submit applications to the city. The county reviews the plans and does the inspections.
  • City of Kenyon - Submit applications to the city. The county reviews the plans and does the inspections.
  • City of Lake City - All code administration is by the city.
  • City of Pine Island - All code administration is by the city.
  • City of Red Wing - All code administration is by the city.
  • City of Wanamingo - Submit applications to the city. The county reviews the plans and does the inspections.
  • City of Zumbrota - All code administration is by the city.
Contractor Licensing Waiver
An applicant for a residential building permit can be a Minnesota-licensed contractor or the property owner. Property Owners should also submit the "Contractor Licensing Waiver" with their permit application.

Township Zoning Approval Forms
Townships must approve most construction projects and building permits. The applicant should submit the township approval to the county along with the County Building Permit Application and other project submittals. For specific township information, contact the township clerk.
